Halloween Harm Reduction: A Community Conversation
Hosted by the UL Sociology Club
October 24th |  1:00 PM
Mouton Hall, Room 117

The UL Sociology Club is dedicated to exploring the connections between social issues, community well-being, and everyday life. Through education, outreach, and dialogue, we aim to promote social awareness and inspire positive action on campus and beyond.

This October, we invite students, faculty, and community members to join us for a timely and thought-provoking event on harm reduction—a compassionate, evidence-based approach to promoting health, safety, and dignity for all.

Our Halloween-themed event, “Halloween Harm Reduction: A Community Conversation,” will feature two guest speakers who are actively involved in local harm reduction initiatives:
Kady Douglas – Acadiana Harm Reduction
Jay Brooks – Harm Reduction Hotties
Together, they will share their experiences and insights on harm reduction practices, substance use education, and community-based support strategies. This discussion will highlight the social and structural factors that shape health outcomes while offering practical ways to engage in harm reduction efforts personally and professionally.

In keeping with the Halloween spirit, attendees are encouraged to dress up and enjoy the festive atmosphere while learning about a serious and impactful topic.

Stay safe, friends!
Informational materials will be provided.
